Restaurant Review: Hash House A Go Go

Hash House A Go Go - Chicken and Waffle Tower
Chicken and Waffle Tower

Hash House A Go Go!

Holy yum! This place is great and has extremely large portions. The plates that served the food alone where huge. Being me, I asked the waiter where they purchased these monster dishes and he told me they were actually custom made platters that were around $40 each… This is hearsay. Don’t quote me on that. This gives perspective. Without me holding the plate in front of you.

Nestled in beloved Hillcrest of San Diego California, we find the very packed Hash House. I’ve been here twice so far, once a few years ago and this current time. Both times I’ve been extremely pleased. This monstrosity of  a dish you see at the top of the page was my meal–The Chicken and Waffle Tower. Giant pieces of chicken, four large waffles, and a bunch of syrup to go with. Let’s not forget the thick bacon that was on it.

More food and pictures after the jump.

Hash House A Go Go - Raspberry Mojito

My drink–I don’t remember the exact name. It was a raspberry mojito. Very good, very tasty. Wish it was a little bit stronger.

Hash House A Go Go - Meatloaf

The meatloaf! Our friend said it was tasty beyond belief and sitting on top of all those potatoes, it was about the size of a large grapefruit.

Hash House A Go Go - Andy's Sage Fried Chicken Benedict

This was my favorite of all the dishes. Andy’s Sage Fried Chicken Benedict. With a name that long it better be good, and it was by far one of the most delicious “home style” dishes I’ve had. Mound of mashed potatoes, biscuits, fried chicken, eggs, bacon, and fried cheese resting on top COVERED with a spicy sauce. Yeah. I was a bit jealous.

Next time I go here, this will be my dish and I will HIGHLY recommend this to people. It’s just that amazingly good. Try it! ;p

from scratch as well as living a more natural life style. I also believe that life should be celebrated and one of the best ways to do that is around a dinner table with friends and family (+ a game for some extra bits of laughter and edge of your seat competition). If you’re new here, I invite you to check out some of my favorite recipes or my story that lead me to real food.
