I know you’ve been waiting for this post! Fried halloumi in butter. Oh my gosh, so good.
There are so many ways to eat this and I can’t wait to try them all. You can put the cheese in a salad, with a sauce drizzled over it, with honey, or just by themselves. They’re so tasty it’s ridiculous. I had my friends try it and they said, “who wouldn’t like this?!” I’m surprised they didn’t make me cook up the rest of the cheese right then and there.
So if you remember this picture, I mentioned how I bought two different brands of the cheese. For this first batch, I used the blue packaged halloumi. I only cooked a few slices to test it out, so I still have more to make for this weekend.
Halloumi kinda reminds me of a mix of feta’s texture and mozzarella’s stiffness. It doesn’t have a strong smell in case you were worried about that. The amount in the package doesn’t look like a ton of cheese, but it will make about 7-10 slices depending on the thickness you cut it to.
I cut the cheese into thin blocks. I used a little under half the block and as you can see, there’s still a decent amount left if cut to this thickness.
In a hot pan, I placed about a tablespoon of butter. After it melted, I added my halloumi cheese with enough space to not overcrowd them.
Hello delicious cheese. The slices almost look like T-rex heads right here.
(Here’s a repeat of the first picture. I keep getting distracted while taking pictures since I’m not in my own home and am not taking as many as normal ><. So sorry!) You want to cook them till they’re a nice golden brown on both sides.
Tada! So delicious! Give it a try!
Have you had halloumi cheese or another type of grilling cheese? What did you think?
