December Birthday Fun

I really love having my birthday this time of year. Throughout my life, a lot of people have asked me if I hated having it in December. I couldn’t understand why they would ask me that when I was younger. December was my favorite month, with my favorite holiday, filled with glittering lights, AMAZING music, and fabulous food. If you didn’t know already—yes, I am the Christmas obsessed type. I’m basically Will Farrell in that meme characterizing the two different types of people and the holiday season.

Lights, lights, everywhere!

So for my birthday fun—you guessed it—we went out and looked at Christmas lights. There is a house near where we used to live that looks like Santa puked on the entire property. This isn’t an understatement. Soooo many lights, so much fun! We walked around and took a bunch of pictures. It’s amazing how they always seem to get new additions to their already massive collection every year.

We also found this house with the famous Leg Lamp from a Christmas Story. These people are amazing.

More Random Updates

Since this is a random update about life, two more lovely things are on my list to talk about.

My amaryllis is getting ready to bloom! I am so excited about this beautiful flower. This is my first year having one, and I have no idea how I didn’t know about them before, but I didn’t. I’m really excited to see it bloom, and it looks like it will be right on time for Winter Solstice.

I’ve also started to loom weave! This is my first wall hanging, which will go in the master bedroom. I did something wrong when I was removing the weave from the loom, but it still ended up working out. I’m looking forward to making many more of these. There is a new crafting subscription/group that is starting called the Crafter’s Box. They’re featuring rya weaving as their first box and I’m going to have to sign up for it. Such a great idea if you have a lot of crafty friends. Updates on the rya weave in the future!
