Engagement Chicken
I was browsing the web and happened to hear about a recipe that was being passed around with the prospect that one would get proposed to after making this dish. I’m already happily married, but the idea that this dish is so good one would have to become engaged shortly after boasts a pretty high claim. Of course, I had to try the dish out myself to see how good it was.
Now I found the original recipe off Glamour. Honestly, it sounded pretty boring. I’m not sure why anyone would get excited over it. However, I did happen to find another blogger who had altered the recipe into something I did have to try.
Recipe
Ingredients:
-Chicken (whole)
– Orange
– 1.5 TB dried Oregano
– 1 TB paprika
– 2 tsp Kosher Salt (I would only use one the next time I make personally)
– 2 tsp pepper
– Olive Oil
– Fresh herbs of your choice
– 1/3 cup white wine or water
Directions:
-Preheat oven to 425
-Zest orange and put zest and spices into a bowl, mix.
-Cut remaining orange into 4 slices.
-Clean chicken and separate skin from breast. Oil chicken.
-Put spice under skin and over. Coat it.
-Pour water/wine at bottom of dish.
-Place orange in chicken (and my secret ing celery to keep it moist!)
-Put chicken in oven for about 25-30 mins to brown, uncovered.
-Cover chicken, bring temp down to 400 and cook for an hour.
-Enjoy!
