Are you looking for something that will make your skin crazy smooth? The answer—a coffee scrub.
Two years ago, I was over at my uncle and aunt’s house for a family get together. I’m actually not even sure what get together this was, but that’s besides the point. The point of this story of mine, is that my aunt pulled out this scrub she had and it was made out of coffee. First, I must have been living under a rock, because this is the first time I’ve ever heard of a coffee scrub. Second, it smelled amazing. Third, I can not even describe to you how soft my skin was after using it. I had the strong scent of coffee on my hands, but I really didn’t care at that point. MY HANDS WERE SO SOFT!
I told myself I was going to have to buy some, and I never did. Fast forward to 2017, I thought to myself, well if I’m making all these household items myself, why not make my own coffee scrub? I could get some old coffee grounds and recycle them, or upcycle as everyone is calling it these days, and make my very own scrub for a fraction of the cost. I marched over to my nearest coffee shop and grabbed one of the bags they prepare to use in gardens. These are free by the way, so you have no excuse not to make this.
Coffee apparently does wonders for your skin. It works to exfoliate, has antioxidants, and apparently helps with cellulite. The best part of this, is that you know what’s in your scrub. You don’t have to worry about random chemicals that were added for who knows what reason.
Other than the coffee grounds, I’m pretty sure you have all or the majority of the ingredients in your pantry. Make some for yourself, then make some more for the people you love!
All you’re going to need:
-1 cup of Coffee grounds
-1/3 cup Coconut oil
– 1 TBSP Cocoa Powder
-5 TBSP Brown Sugar
– 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
This will make two 4oz jars or one 8oz jar.
I know, this looks disgusting, but it all comes together nicely. Basically, you add all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Store in an airtight container and it will keep for a couple of months!
This is an easy way to use the coffee grounds from your morning coffee and your body will thank you for it! Best of all, you most likely have all these ingredients in your pantry right now!
