3 B’s |
Oh man, seriously why don’t I live in Portland yet?
I still dream about this place. My mouth is watering just writing about it. Quite literally, it’s a window outside of a building that you place your order at. There is outdoor and indoor seating to eat at, both areas were clean and spacious.
All the waffles sounded delicious, but I settled on the 3 B’s (Bacon, Brea, and Basil).
The bacon–let’s just talk about the bacon for a second. Seriously, the best bacon I’ve ever had. Thick with a great crunch, peppered edges, juicy, juicy, juicy!
Like the bacon, the waffle was also the best I’ve ever had. It was sweet and crispy. When I say sweet, I really mean it. It’s not in the way a waffle is “sweet” around here, it actually tastes like it could be a dessert on its own–with no toppings etc. I have to figure out the recipe somehow, but this also entails getting a waffle maker, which I’m not sure how often I would actually use. Yeah, I just bought a waffle maker off Amazon >.<
Served with the waffle was homemade peach jam that went great with the rest of the flavors. It reminded me of a baked brie (most likely what they were going for) and was a great savory/sweet breakfast.
More after the jump.
Spicy Bacon Cheddar Jalapeño Waffle |
Hubster had the Spicy Bacon Cheddar Jalapeño Waffle. They used Tilamook cheese, which I love since it’s made fairly local in Oregon. Same great bacon and waffle, this time covered in jalapeños and an avocado/tomatillo salsa. To be honest, I’m not sure which one I liked more. Both were absolutely phenomenal.
Hands down this would be one of the first places we’d visit upon going back to Portland. This is a do not miss destination for any food lover. With luck, we’ll be back soon, enjoying these tasty morsels.
